When it comes to holidays we spend alot of our time talking about them, planning for them, reminiscing about previous ones, saving for them, and then we actually get to go on one. And then we start again. We don’t have a ‘type’ of holiday, we enjoy a lazy one, just sitting and reading and watching the world go by but we also love to explore – Biggy loves an itinerary and will do alot of research and planning, ALOT.
This Turkey holiday was a lazy holiday. Actually all our Turkey holidays are lazy holidays, it is because we know the place so well (by the place I mean our tiny bit around the villa and local town, not the huge country that is Turkey). When we first started going to Turkey we would hire a car and have trips out, then we used the Dolmus (Turkish bus) then we thought why bother, we have a pretty town a 10 minute walk away, a swimming pool steps from the villa and the sea at the end of the road. So now we move no further.
Our walk into Turgutreis is probably the only bit of exercise we get the whole holiday (we won’t count the bobbing around in the pool as it is really just a way to cool ourselves down than an actual workout, although trying to collect toy animals from the bottom of the pool can get tiring…). But I do love our walk, yes it is bloody hot; in the evenings, when we leave the villa we are all showered and fresh, and within 2 minutes we are shiny with sweat and our hair is frizzing in the humidity, a 10 minute walk takes about 30 mins as the heat drains you, but I love it, I would do it everyday if I could. In fact we went on a couple of walks in the middle of the day which was hard going but it is hard to resist and we always rewarded ourselves with an ice cream.
