First Born’s favourite food is a “Cherry Cake” – otherwise know as Mr Kiplings Cherry Bakewells, – when he was really young he would request a “Cherry Cake” at every opportunity and although he no longer asks for them, his bedroom bin is always full of empty Bakewell boxes he has bought himself, so the addiction is still there.
Every now and again if I see a Bakewell recipe I will give it ago for him, and when we went to Goodwood last week it seemed a good excuse to try my latest out.
The recipe was another one from Commonsense Baking.
They were fairly easy to make, although the pastry at the bottom didn’t look too pretty, but then you can’t see it so it doesn’t matter.
I would say they were ‘alright’, I wasn’t amazed by them so I will keep looking for the perfect Bakewell recipe, but what wasn’t eaten at the picnic First Born finished off for breakfast the next day, so they can’t have been too bad. Then again he is easily pleased when it comes to some some pastry, sponge, jam, almonds and icing, I could probably pour those ingredients into a bag and give it a shake and that would be enough for him…
