Everytime we go to the villa in Turkey we always visit Gumusluk – a little village about a 5 minute drive away – it is full of pricey fish restaurants but it is very pretty. In the past we have done the walk to Rabbit Island – a barren island you have to paddle to, then walk round and stare at all the rabbit poop, but no rabbits – you aren’t allowed to walk on the island now as archeologists are excavating on it, so actually we were very lucky to have been on as in the last few years they have discovered a theatre from 400BC and a sacred burial area of a 15th century church amongst other things. Biggy and First Born have also snorkeled off the island next to it where the remains of the ancient city of Myndos are, although I think Biggy remembers kicking the prickly sea urchin more vividly.

I do have some good memories from our visits too as it was the place that Biggy asked me to move in with him, a very big moment for us 🙂 and it is also the place I screamed “just shut the eff up” at First Born and Smalls; it echoed all around the bay and Biggy and Mr O (a friend we were with) were so embarrassed they dived into the deep water and swam back across the sea to get away from the awkward situation. It wasn’t one of my better moments but their bickering was driving me mad.

Anyway this holiday we only visited Gumusluk for a quick look around and an ice cream but it is still as pretty as ever.
