We woke to a few clouds in the sky but no rain and the temperature was promising. The alarm clock woke us, which I would normally refuse to use when on hols but Biggy had plans for the day, and we shouldn’t complain because 7:45 is quite a lie in.

We were off for a train ride – yes he is such a nerd, bless him. With all our wonderful planning we arrived at Soller nice and early with 30 minutes to spare to catch the train. 40 minutes later we were still driving around trying to find somewhere to park, it was a complete nightmare, we went round and round these tiny streets, which were very pretty but we couldn’t really take it in with our desperate searching for train station signs and parking spaces, we missed the train but eventually found a carpark and where to catch the train – which were both very very close to where we had been driving round and round. We had an hour until our next train so we bought our tickets and found us a cafe in a lovely square surrounded by old buildings and refreshed a slightly frazzled Biggy.mallorca-day-3-

There was a strange looking man waiting for the train.

After a slow morning we were at last on our wooden train heading through lemon trees, olive groves, quite a few tunnels and lots and lots of mountains. The views were very impressive and Golden Boy loved the tunnels, until it all got too much and he had a little sleep.

An hour later we were in Palma; a really lovely city which unfortunately we did not have much time to explore due to our morning parking issues and we didn’t have long til the last train back, just enough time to find a highly recommended bar/cafe for some late lunch.

Then back to the train, back through the mountains and tunnels. Back in Soller we were feeling a bit tired and ready to do some relaxing by the pool, all we had to do was find the car…

mallorca-day-3

We first did a perfect circle through the streets, ending up back at the station, we tried again, looking for something familiar to send us in the right direction – have we seen that green shutter before, or that tatty looking ginger cat…? – after wilting under the beautiful sunshine for a bit Biggy decided to leave us at a cafe and go find the car himself, very gentlemanly of him and too be honest we were of no help – off he strode purposefully and 15 minutes later he pulled up next to us, drama over, seems were were very close all along. Thank goodness, back to the villa for some swimming, reading and not much else.
