Biggy has tried to ban me from baking – he blames me for his high cholesterol, I reply there is such a thing as portion control, and what about the large bowl of ice cream he eats several times a week… anyway, we were off to Goodwood with some friends on Sunday so I had a good excuse to bake something Saturday evening and I attempted some Viennese Fingers.
I have quite alot of cookery books, not to mention my piles of food magazines and folders of cut out recipes. But that won’t stop me picking up a few more cookery books everytime I visit the library, and if I really like it, on my amazon wishlist it goes, and this week I brought home one called Commonsense Baking, and it is brilliant, loads of cakes and biscuits I want to try, and I started with the Viennese Fingers.
I got to practise my piping and I made much less mess that I did the last time, although they weren’t very consistent, some thin, some fat.
They did come out lovely and soft and crumbly like they were supposed to.
There were a few casualties when I dipped them in the chocolate, they were just so delicate and crumbly, but I just used some chocolate to glue them back together.
I was quite proud of my little biscuits.
