So another weekend has passed. I was supposed to write this on Monday, that was my plan, and I did do a bit of a rough copy on Sunday night at about 2am. But is was a terrible night which led to a terrible day, nothing on my to-do list got done, I just stumbled along with the boys, luckily toddler group is open for another few days until the long close for the summer so that was enough entertainment for them for a couple of hours. Last night was another bad night, I ended staying on the sofa for all of it, pointless going upstairs to cry in the darkness when I have many Australian My Kitchen Rules to watch. But with about 3 hours sleep in 2 nights in me I am going to be a fun person to be around… And poor Golden Boy has started the week off with a snotty cold, poor thing, we all need a holiday. 9 days to go!
Okay so enough with the moaning, the weekend. An interesting one. Kicked off with a meal on the Friday night round some friends as for the first time in a long time I wasn’t working, and we were treated to a very delicious meal, it was lovely to see them and I know I was incredibly quiet but I think they are used to me and know I am so pleased to be around them, I think Biggy makes up for my silence.
Saturday morning started off of course with a shopping trip; I took Smalls to Primark to top up her summer wardrobe for Turkey as she has grown so much since last year, and oh what a chore that was. For someone who is always giving me lists of things she wants she was a rubbish shopper, she wandered around unenthusiastically, barely looking at the clothes and frustrating the pants off me, we ended up getting her a couple of pairs of shorts and bikinis. That will be her Turkey wardrobe. Excellent. Teenagers!
The rest of my Saturday was spent with my best friend helping out another friend (I shall call her L) who runs several choirs. After months of practising and alot of hard work they were putting on a couple of performances to show how amazing they were. And boy did alot of work go into it, L really is amazing, there was a huge amount of people performing, and it was REALLY good, she got all these women (and a few men) to work so well together, and they all bloody love it, they had so much fun.
Mine and Besties job was to be on the door and take tickets and money and once the show had started we took a side of the stage each and let people on and off at the right time. I took the easy job and just let them out when they were finished, no concentration needed there, Bestie had to get the different choirs onto the stage at the right time, yup I was the lucky one, I would like to add I got a bit of hand cramp from holding the curtain shut, and my feet ached a bit. What, no sympathy huh?! Anyway it all went so smoothly, L worked her butt off, I was seriously in awe of her, and so was everyone else, the choirs sounded great. Success.
After everyones hard work it was off to the pub for celebratory food and drink. L was in a bit of a daze and I think after Saturday has hidden herself away in a dark room for a few days to acclimatise herself back into the real world after working so hard on this project for the last few months. A couple of bottles of Prosecco and an impulsive and unnecessary shot of Sambuca and time to go home.
Sunday was more relaxing, I watched Golden Boy and Biggy in the swimming pool (I am still putting off wearing the dreaded swimming costume). As I said before 9 days to go. Eeek. Is so lovely to watch the boys together, Golden Boy absolutely loves to be with his daddy so much. My favourite part is watching them in the showers when they get out of the pool, Golden Boy copies his dad washing under his arms and his hair, he has learnt to wave his hand in front of the button to make it work, but is always looking up and get a faceful of water, which makes him leap back.
The rest of the day was spent at home, avoiding the drizzle, we are the middle of the summer didn’t you know. I cooked a roast and Smalls and I baked a rather flat cake. More on that later.
Now it is just over 3 and half days to the next weekend.
