Enough with the Turkey posts. For now. We had 5 invites this weekend; a couple of kids parties and a few bbqs, but due to me being so tired and Nanny (our babysitter) was poorly so we managed to attend only 1 of these, and we managed that as it was our next door neighbours 60th on sunday afternoon. We got there just as the ice cream van turned up – actually we woke Golden Boy up as soon as we heard its music, c’mon who wouldn’t! We only stayed for a little bit – long enough for an ice cream and a glass of champagne, but it was a really good  party, perfect weather for a lovely family, we are very lucky in having such brilliant neighbours – and in the toast his wife gave the birthday boy she mentioned they had visited over 50 countries together! Amazing, Biggy and I have our work cut out, we thought we were doing ok but we think we have only just made it into double figures, rubbish.

So the weekend, it was very quiet here as First Born and Smalls were at their dads and we had planned a weekend of getting things done. But well, I was useless on Saturday, I was in a self-obsessed tired bubble but the boys got on with lots of DIY, I don’t know how much Golden Boy actually helped but Biggy was very proud of how much he had got done so GB can’t have been too much of a hindrance. That evening as we were staying in after all, Biggy made us some Margaritas and we watched The Fly – which I have seen several times before but this time I found it quite yucky, what a wimp! But other than making me lose my appetite it is a good film, I had forgotten how strange Jeff Goldblum can be – I always remember him in Independence Day and Jurassic Park – although is his acting any different…

After a better night on Sunday we went to the Chilli Festival at West Dean and it was packed; we go every year and alot of the time they aren’t so lucky with the weather, but it was blue skies and sunshine and they had really made an effort, there was a funfair and another area with bouncy castles and rides for the kids, not to mention all the foodstalls where we stuff as much freebies into our faces as we can – they aren’t actually just giving away the food you are supposed to be just trying before purchasing but the greed takes over and there is much huffing and puffing as people are in your way “sampling”. Biggy did spend a tenner on some different mayonnaises and a marinade so we felt like we had done our part and Golden Boy got to go on a ride and he won a lorry from a hook the duck stall – all in all a lovely trip out.
